Region: Steam/PURPLE Global. This recap follows the official notes dated Oct. 20 PDT / Oct. 21 CEST.
The Global update covered more than new dungeon difficulty. It also changed Abyss participation and boss durability, while fixing several Chanter and Sorcerer skill issues. For groups preparing for the new Expedition Hard modes, the key details are the entry threshold, revive cap, and boss enrage timer.
Krao Cave and Draupnir gain Hard mode
The patch adds Hard mode to Krao Cave and Draupnir with the following rules:
- Entry item level: 2,600.
- Boss enrage timer: four minutes.
- Revives: each player is limited to three.
Hard mode expands the reward pool as well. Players have a chance to obtain the bound Philosopher’s Stone: Revelation and Expedition Hero Artwork, and the stone can also be selected as a guaranteed reward. Runs can award Ariel Fragments and more Kina than Normal mode. Unique crafting materials available in Hard mode include Wrathful Mind, Wrathful Will, and Wrathful Ego.
The update adds achievements for Expedition Hard and for collecting Expedition Hero Artwork; some achievements award unique skins. Ariel Fragment types can differ by dungeon, so check each reward table rather than assuming both instances provide identical fragments.
Abyss: higher entry capacity, tougher core and bosses
The official notes also list these Abyss adjustments:
- The maximum number of players allowed to enter the Abyss is increased.
- The Lower Abyss Dimensional Core has more HP.
- All Abyss bosses have more HP.
- The collision hitboxes of Kaira and Argo are slightly larger.
The changes allow more players to enter while increasing the durability of key objectives and bosses. They do not guarantee shorter or easier fights; outcomes still depend on participation, faction coordination, and damage uptime.
Class fixes
Several fixes address skill effects and damage calculations:
- Chanter: the visual effects for Spinning Strike are corrected.
- Sorcerer: Cold Storm is fixed so targets with stacked Frostbite receive the intended extra damage; Frostbite now matches the skill level, and the Specialty 1 extra application issue is addressed.
- Sorcerer: Fire Wall no longer deals unintended extra damage to targets that are not affected by Embers.
These are bug fixes, not evidence of a broad class-wide buff or nerf.
Practical checklist
- Confirm item level 2,600 before queuing and agree on revive use with the party.
- Plan damage and mechanics around the four-minute enrage timer.
- Check which instance awards the Ariel Fragment or crafting material your build needs.
- Reassess positioning and timing in Abyss fights because boss durability and hitboxes have changed.
