AION 2’s Korean live service is receiving a substantial September 23 update that goes well beyond its holiday events. The patch replaces the current Trial with Fire Temple, adds automatic tuning to the Soul Imprint system, rematches Abyss servers and adjusts large-scale Rift competition flow.
These changes are for the Korean service and should not be treated as confirmed October 5 Global launch features. They are still useful for following how NC is iterating on AION 2’s live systems ahead of the worldwide release.
Fire Temple becomes the new Trial
The existing Bakron’s Floating Island Trial is ending and will be replaced by Fire Temple.
The new Trial requires level 50 and item level 4800. Players build the final challenge level by combining selectable modifiers, with difficulty ranging from level 4 to level 16. The available modifiers include time limits, resurrection limits, boss enhancements and player debuffs.
Clears award a Trial-specific currency, with each difficulty paying its reward once per week before the Wednesday reset. Several exchange-shop purchase limits are also being raised and new items are being added.
The structure is notable because it gives players more control over difficulty instead of relying on a single fixed version of the encounter.
Soul Imprint gets automatic tuning
One of the most practical quality-of-life changes is automatic Soul Imprint tuning.
Players will be able to define target options before starting. The system then continues tuning automatically until one of those target options appears or the registered materials run out. The casting time for Soul Tuning is also being shortened.
For players who repeatedly reroll attributes, this removes a considerable amount of manual input and is a more meaningful daily-use improvement than a simple numerical balance change.
Abyss servers are being rematched
The September 23 maintenance also brings another Abyss server rematch. Artifact and Abyss Corridor occupation states will be reset as part of that process.
A new Battlefield Power buff is also being introduced. When specified bosses are present in the lower or middle Abyss, characters on the map receive the unified buff, which replaces several existing class-related effects while active. In Abyss Rift zones, the same effect remains active regardless of whether a boss is present.
The direction appears aimed at standardizing part of the combat environment during large-scale PvP encounters.
Rift battles receive entry and information improvements
The Space-Time Rift competition also gets several usability changes:
- Battlefield Power applies during the event;
- attackers returning to the event server receive temporary invulnerability;
- return locations move closer to active outpost groups and use more arrival points;
- defenders receive a message when their assigned outpost is attacked;
- the HUD can preview available rewards.
These are primarily flow and information changes designed to make re-entry and objective awareness clearer during mass PvP.
Cosmetics, UI and customization are also updated
The Atelier shop gains appearance previews, while weapon appearances receive customization presets. Both male and female characters receive additional presets, hairstyles and facial options, and body customization gains a new physique setting.
Dungeon waiting rooms and panels for Sanctuary and Transcendence content will also display difficulty information, alongside a set of class tooltip and effect fixes.
Chuseok events arrive with the same maintenance
The Korean service is also launching a group of Chuseok events after the September 23 maintenance, including a 28-day attendance track, a Full Moon event shop and progression boosts for Expedition and Transcendence content.
The Full Moon shop runs through October 7. Event currency can be earned through attendance and a range of PvE and PvP activities, then exchanged for items including final-boss clear tickets, content recharge tickets and progression materials.
For Global players, the most interesting parts of this update are not the holiday rewards themselves but the system-level changes: Fire Temple’s configurable Trial, automatic tuning and the standardized large-scale PvP buff. Whether any of these arrive in the Global build will require confirmation in NC’s Global patch notes.
