Regional scope: Korean AION 2 servers only, following the October 7, 2026 Korean patch. None of these changes is confirmed for Steam/PURPLE Global.
The October 7 Korean update includes several Abyss adjustments that matter to organized PvP groups. Beyond a new round of server pairings, NCSOFT is closing a gear-switching loophole on Reshanta’s surface layer and making changes intended to reduce lag in large battles.
Eighth Chapter 1 server-matching round
Korea has entered its eighth round of Chapter 1 server matching. With the rematch, Artifact ownership and Abyss Corridor occupation status are reset. Players should not assume that their previous matchup—or control of a contested objective—carries over unchanged.
The patch directs players to a separate CM Hideout notice for the detailed matching combinations. The main update note itself is not an authoritative roster of all the new opponent pairings.
Surface Reshanta: changing into over-limit gear has consequences
On the surface layer of Reshanta, characters that exceed the area’s allowed entry specifications after getting in—including by changing equipment—will now die immediately. The pre-existing penalties, removal from the map and a one-hour deduction from the usage-time allowance, continue to apply.
This is more specific than a blanket ban on changing equipment. The trigger is exceeding the map’s applicable limit after admission. The announcement does not establish a new universal gear-score threshold.
Performance focus for mass PvP
The patch also targets stuttering during large engagements across surface, lower and middle Reshanta, as well as the Abyss Rift Zone. Optimization work may help heavily populated fights, although the notes make no guarantee about individual frame rates.
Players following AION 2 Global can treat these Korean-system changes as an example of how a mature regional service is being managed—not as a roadmap or confirmation of identical changes on global servers.
