AION 2 Global Reaches a 397,905 Steam Peak After Free-to-Play Launch

AION 2 Global saw a much larger second Steam surge after the game opened to everyone as a free-to-play release on October 5, 2026.

SteamDB records a new all-time peak of 397,905 concurrent Steam players on October 5. The same snapshot also placed AION 2 at No. 1 in Steam’s Top Sellers.

During the first day of Advanced Access, AION 2 peaked at roughly 171,530 concurrent Steam players. The new 397,905 record is about 2.32 times that earlier high. The comparison matters because the first figure came from the Founder’s Pack access window, while the new peak arrived after the wider free-to-play population could enter.

This is not the total AION 2 population. SteamDB tracks the Steam client only. AION 2 Global is also available through NC’s PURPLE launcher, so the safe conclusion is that Steam alone approached 400,000 simultaneous players.

The review sample is expanding quickly as well. At the snapshot checked for this article, SteamDB showed roughly 9,000 reviews and the game remained in the Mostly Positive range. Launch-day ratings can move quickly because they mix queues, login issues, account-linking problems and opinions about the game itself.

A Steam peak near 400,000 also explains why launch-week server capacity, cross-server instances and crowded quest objectives remain important operational issues. Further server expansion, matchmaking changes and hotfixes are the next areas to watch.

This article covers Steam Global public data only. PURPLE, Korea and Taiwan are not included.
